In the fall of 2024, a family from Raleigh, NC, reached out to ask if I would take pictures of their dancer in New York City. January 2025, she would be performing on the stage of Carnegie Hall with her dance company. What an extraordinary opportunity for her and such an exciting milestone to celebrate!
This was also an incredible opportunity for me, as I’d been dreaming of capturing urban portraits in NYC, including the iconic DUMBO shot. The energy of the city, combined with such a talented subject, made for an inspiring adventure.
However, our plans didn’t unfold quite as expected. The dancer’s tight schedule left us with only a small window of free time—and, as luck would have it, that’s when the rain started. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get the specific shots we had envisioned. Even so, the experience was unforgettable, and we made the most of the city’s vibrant backdrop.
