If this is your first time booking a family photo session, welcome! Whether you’re celebrating a new baby, updating your gallery wall, or finally carving out time for photos that include you instead of just the kids, I’ve got you.
As a local photographer serving families across Raleigh, Wake Forest, and beyond, I want your session to feel easy and enjoyable from the start. Here’s a quick guide to what you can expect.
A Little Prep Goes a Long Way
Before we meet, I’ll send over a quick questionnaire to get to know your crew a bit better. This helps me plan your session around what matters most to you—whether that’s a shot of everyone looking at the camera or more playful, in-the-moment images.
A Kid-Friendly, Go-With-the-Flow Approach
Real talk: no one expects your kids to be perfect for 45 minutes. The goal isn’t stiff poses and forced smiles—it’s connection. I’ll guide you with gentle prompts and keep things moving so we can capture the genuine moments, whether that’s a toddler running into your arms or a quiet snuggle with your baby.
Most families leave saying, “That was way more fun than I expected,” and that’s exactly how it should feel.
Raleigh’s Best Light and Locations
Golden hour in Raleigh is magic, especially in spots like Joyner Park in Wake Forest or Dorothea Dix Park with its skyline views and wide open fields. I’ll recommend a location based on the vibe you’re going for, whether that’s cozy and woodsy or open and modern. We’ll also schedule around the best natural light—typically early morning or late afternoon.
After the Session
Within two to three weeks, you’ll receive a beautifully curated online gallery with your final images. You’ll be able to download your favorites, order prints or albums, and even use them for holiday cards if that’s your plan.
If you’ve booked a mini session, turnaround is often quicker—perfect for holiday gifting.
A Few Tips for a Smooth Session
- Bring water, snacks, and a backup outfit for little ones (just in case)
- Don’t worry if things get silly—those usually make for the best photos
- Let go of the pressure to be perfect and enjoy your time together
I know how quickly the seasons fly by, and it’s an honor to help you hold onto them. If you’re ready for photos that feel like you, I’d love to help tell your family’s story.
